The Shale Gas News, heard every Saturday at 10 AM on 94.3 FM, 1510 AM, 1600 AM, 104.1 FM and Sundays on YesFM, talked about IPAA, Ukraine infrastructure, Russian energy and much more last week.

The Shale Gas News has grown again to the Williamsport area on stations WEJS 1600 AM & 104.1 FM. The Shale Gas News is now broadcasting in Bradford, Lackawanna, Lancaster, Lebanon, Luzerne, Lycoming, Pike, Sullivan, Susquehanna, Tioga and Wayne Counties, as well as in greater central PA and now the Williamsport area. The Shale Gas News is aired on Saturday or Sunday depending on the station.

Every Saturday Rusty Fender, Matt Henderson and I host a morning radio show to discuss all things shale gas. This week we played a podcast from the Power Hour with Alex Epstein with Toby Rice, the CEO of America’s largest natural gas producer, on America’s strangled natural gas potential.

Shale Gas News

The Shale Gas News, typically, is broadcast live. On the December 10th show (click above), we covered the following new natural gas territory (see news excerpts below):

  • IPAA appoints Steven Pruett as new board chairman. The Independent Petroleum Association of America (IPAA) board of directors on Monday has appointed Steven H. Pruett, the president and CEO of Elevation Resources LLC, as board chairman for the 2022-2024 term. Pruett comes into this role after serving the past term as the association’s vice chairman. “Steve’s energy and enthusiasm are assets the IPAA team is grateful to have in our next chairman,” Jeff Eshelman, IPAA president and CEO, said.
  • Manchin’s last-gasp permitting effort fails. Congressional Democratic leaders fell short in a last-ditch effort to honor a promise to pass Sen. Joe Manchin’s permitting overhaul proposal. The final text of the fiscal 2023 National Defense Authorization Act released Tuesday night did not include language that would have shortened timelines for National Environmental Policy Act reviews and limited citizen judicial challenges for proposed energy projects.
  • Biden To Hold Meeting With American Oil And Gas Producers To Ask Them To Help Ukraine. The Biden administration has opposed domestic production and is making good on a campaign promise to eliminate the industry entirely. It appears, however, he might make an exception for Ukrainians. Reuters reports that the administration is holding a virtual meeting Thursday with oil and gas executives to discuss how American oil producers can support Ukrainian energy infrastructure.
  • How Warnock’s win changes the climate game for Senate Dems. Top Democrats will regain subpoena power. Committee work should get easier. And Sen. Joe Manchin will lose some leverage — even as the West Virginia Democrat gains more leeway to buck President Joe Biden.  Democratic Sen. Raphael Warnock’s victory over Republican Herschel Walker in Tuesday’s Georgia Senate runoff means Democrats will have a 51-seat majority in the next Congress, ending the longest period in history with an evenly divided Senate.
  • U.S. pledges to ramp up supplies of natural gas to Britain as Biden and Sunak seek to cut off Russia. The U.K. and U.S. are forming a new energy partnership focused on boosting energy security and reducing prices.  In a statement Wednesday, the U.K. government said the new partnership would “drive work to reduce global dependence on Russian energy exports, stabilise energy markets and step up collaboration on energy efficiency, nuclear and renewables.”
  • New Predictions Of Peak Oil And Energy Are Flawed. One of my recent posts warned European governments to recognize that the elevated energy prices they are experiencing are largely due to transient events, including last year’s cold spell and this year’s war in Ukraine, and so they should not enact permanent or at least lasting policies in response. Temporary problems require temporary measures.
