The Shale Gas News, heard every Saturday at 10 AM on 94.3 FM, 1510 AM, 1600 AM, 104.1 FM and Sundays on YesFM, talked about oil prices, climate politics, fast LNG and much more last week.
The Shale Gas News has grown again to the Williamsport area on stations WEJS 1600 AM & 104.1 FM. The Shale Gas News is now broadcasting in Bradford, Lackawanna, Lancaster, Lebanon, Luzerne, Lycoming, Pike, Sullivan, Susquehanna, Tioga and Wayne Counties, as well as in greater central PA and now the Williamsport area. The Shale Gas News is aired on Saturday or Sunday depending on the station.
Every Saturday Rusty Fender, Matt Henderson and I host a morning radio show to discuss all things shale gas. This week, as a guest, we had Matt Guedes, Executive Director of Camp Freedom.

- Oil prices slide $2 on China demand worries, U.S. midterm elections. Oil prices fell more than $2 on Tuesday in choppy trading on growing worries about fuel demand as COVID-19 outbreaks worsened in top crude importer China, and jitters about the outcome of U.S. midterm elections. Brent futures for January delivery fell $2.56 to $95.36 a barrel, a 2.6% loss. U.S. crude fell $2.88, or 3.14%, to $88.91 per barrel.
- What’s next for climate politics? 7 results offer clues. The midterm elections ushered in a new era of climate politics in Washington. It’s going to be messy. Republicans were favored to win the House in Tuesday’s elections — but early results signaled a drastic underperformance. House control was still undetermined as of 5 a.m., and any Republican majority would be slim. Democrats also flipped a Senate seat, giving them a greater chance of retaining the upper chamber.
- U.S. E&Ps Step Up Oil Production as Demand Climbs, Recession Lurks. Domestic crude production climbed notably last week, putting output near the 2022 peak, as U.S. demand accelerated and global market conditions tightened. The Energy Information Administration (EIA) said Wednesday that output for the week ended Nov. 4 climbed by 200,000 b/d from the previous week to 12.1 million b/d.
- New Fortress to Bring Online ‘More Than Half’ of World’s New LNG Export Capacity in 2023-2024. New Fortress Energy Inc. (NFE) expects to finish building its first “Fast LNG” unit by March and start operations by the middle of next year offshore Mexico’s east coast, with several more units to follow shortly thereafter. NFE has finalized a series of liquefied natural gas agreements with Mexican state electricity firm Comisión Federal de Electricidad to develop a floating LNG (FLNG) export hub offshore Altamira in Tamaulipas state.
- Brainwashed Kids Go Militant at UPenn Football Game, Demand Divest. Last week we told you about a group of brainwashed children at the University of Pennsylvania (UPenn), who were behaving like spoiled rotten brats, demanding UPenn divest from any company with a whiff of oil or natural gas about it. Apparently, the selfish brats weren’t getting enough attention, so they went militant. A group of 75 or so Fossil Free Penn students rushed onto the football field during half-time on Saturday, holding up the restart of the UPenn vs. Yale game (a homecoming game!) by over an hour.
- Equitrans Signals Giving Up on MVP Southgate – Pulls Eminent Domain. This is, indeed, a sad day. Last Thursday, Mountain Valley Pipeline LLC (MVP), which is majority owned by and is operated by Equitrans Midstream Corp., filed a notice to voluntarily dismiss eminent domain proceedings against landowner holdouts in North Carolina for land needed to build an extension of MVP into the state, called MVP Southgate. An Equitrans spokesman said the company hasn’t given up on the Southgate extension. We don’t believe it for a New York minute.
