Shale Gas News

The Shale Gas News, typically, is broadcast live. On the March 4th show (click above), we covered the following new natural gas territory (see news excerpts below):

  • Experts Say NatGas Oversold and Price Now Likely at Bottom. A financial analyst writing on the Seeking Alpha investors’ website wrote a detailed post outlining his thesis on why the price of natural gas is likely at the bottom now and will only go higher. He says that since natural gas prices are at or below breakeven levels for drillers, they are reducing their drilling rate. A negative shift in weather, falling rig counts, and the potential boost from Freeport exports may push natural gas back into a shortage over the coming months.
  • Joe Manchin “Furious” Over Biden Implementation of IRA Climate Bill. We just have to say right up front, U.S. Senator Joe Manchin from West Virginia is either a lying sleazebag, or he’s really, really stupid. And neither option is very inspiring. Last year Manchin was lured into voting in favor of a massive government spending bill that previously was called the New Green Deal. It got renamed (misnamed) to the Inflation Reduction Act (IRA), to make it an easier sell to voters. Now Manchin is making noise to reporters that he’s “livid” and “furious” that the Bidenistas are actually following through and distributing money from the IRA the way they said they would–with money for rich millionaires who buy electric cars. Lying? Or stupid? Take your pick.
  • Another Surprise! 2nd LNG Cargo Departs Freeport Facility. Yesterday we reported the surprising news that a load of LNG had left the Freeport facility, even though the facility has not been fully blessed to restart operations. As we told you, it appears the load was LNG that had been liquefied and stored before the facility was shut down in June 2022 following an explosion. In an even bigger surprise, it appears another (second) ship left Freeport last night, loaded with LNG, headed for South Korea.
  • Fetterman Can’t Do the Job – NYT Says “Mental Health Challenges” – We’re going to say it right up front to everyone who voted for John Fetterman for U.S. Senate in Pennsylvania: We told you so. We warned MDN readers Fetterman is not up to the job. He had a stroke, he should have pulled out of the race, but he didn’t. And now the left (including the Democrat cheerleaders of the New York Times) feel comfortable enough to admit the truth that some of us were speaking last fall–that Fetterman is not fit to be a U.S. Senator. Fetterman defeated the odious Republican Dr. Oz, so he’s served his purpose. Now it’s time to dump him and replace him with someone else. That appears to be the plan by the left.
  • Marcellus Landowners Surprised by Reactivation of Expired Leases. Have you ever heard of reviving an expired lease through retroactive pooling and unitization? We sure hadn’t. But apparently, it’s a thing in the Marcellus region. According to the legal beagles at Pittsburgh energy law firm Houston Harbaugh, in some cases, landowners with leases that were expired are being notified those leases are now part of an amended (back-dated) declaration of pooling, which shows a date prior to the lease expiring.
