Electric Vehicles Are the Future of California? Well, No…

Everyone in electric vehicles is the dream of California’s pretty-boy, rich-kid governor. But, is it practical? No. Of course not and it’s a feature, not a bug.
The California Insider has put out a great video from Mark Mills (the same fellow who did the video about Unobtanium) explaining how and why the Golden State’s plan to go all electric vehicles is a ridiculous but dangerous scheme that will punish Californians beyond belief but their governor doesn’t care because he hopes to have moved on behind then and, as Nancy Pelosi’s kin, he has nothing to worry about regardless of what happens to the poor true-believing constituents he leaves behind.
There is also a one-minute version:
And, here is the transcript for the shorter version:
We want to go all electric by 2035. Is it practical to do it now?
Well, we can make this whole discussion easy with the two-letter word. NO.
There’s no such thing of course as a zero emissions vehicle.
The real question is “where are the emissions associated with the electric car?” because what you do with an electric vehicle is you don’t eliminate emissions, you export them somewhere else.
You have to dig up about 500 000 pounds of materials to make a single thousand pound battery.
It takes 100 to 300 barrels of oil to manufacture a battery that can hold one barrel of oil equivalent of energy.
Just manufacturing the battery can have a carbon debt rate ranging from 10 tons to 40 tons of CO2 and…
The plans that are in place to increase the use of batteries will require an increase in production of minerals like lithium, cobalt [and] zinc.
Demand for those minerals will increase between 400% and 4,000%.
There isn’t enough mining in the world to make enough batteries for that many people for their car.
But, don’t imagine this is all due to Gavin Newsom’s shallowness; that he’s simply wrong or only focused on the politics of the moment. No, that’s where we miss the signals drowned out by all the noise. Gavin Newsom is simply another member of an elite ruling class that wants us completely under its thumb, unable to travel, unable to live anywhere but in cities, unable to own anything and unable to do anything in response to its own tyranny. They want us to starve us of energy (and food, too) so they can control us; that’s the plan. Own nothing and be happy as their serfs as they make us work for them.
