Angola launches offshore bidding round

Angola’s National Agency for Petroleum, Gas and Biofuels (Anpg) on Tuesday launched its 2019 licensing round at a presentation in the capital city of Luanda, Kallanish Energy learns.

The country is offering 10 offshore blocks in the Namibe and Benguela basins, which have been underexplored and are expected to hold significant reserves. They cover an area of 21,000 square miles.

Bids are expected between Oct. 2 and Nov. 11, with concessions awarded in January 2020.

Over the coming weeks, Anpg will hold road shows in Houston, London and Dubai.

It’s part of the Executive Strategy for the Allocation of Oil Concessions for the period between 2019 and 2025 to create an attractive environment for investors n Angola.

“The bidding process that today the National Agency of Oil, Gas and Biofuels presents here reinforces our commitment to the entire oil industry and its players,” said Diamantino de Azevedo, Minister of Mineral Resources and Oil, in a release.
