Royal Building Products acquires DaVinci Roofscapes

Woodbridge, Ontario-based Royal Building Products Inc. has purchased Lenexa, Kan.-based DaVinci Roofscapes LLC to top off its product offering with composite roofing and expand its selection of composite siding.

Founded in 1999, DaVinci injection molds its composites from virgin high and low density polyethylene, fire retardants, pigments and UV stabilizers. The company had been focused on synthetic slate and shake products for high-end roof projects until siding was added to the product mix this year following an investment in new equipment.

DaVinci holds a leadership position in the premium composites category, and its products will continue to sell under the brand name, according to a news release about the acquisition.

“We are very excited about the addition of DaVinci, which brings an impressive business with a strong leadership position in the composite roofing industry,” Scott Szwejbka, vice president of exteriors, said in the release. “DaVinci has an outstanding reputation for meeting customer needs with superior technology, product quality, and operating excellence. We are pleased to welcome this talented team into the Westlake family.”

Owned by Westlake Chemical Corp., Royal Building Products extrudes premium siding, trim, accessories, soffit, rainware, mouldings and decking from mostly PVC at manufacturing sites throughout the U.S. and Canada. With estimated sales of $1.2 billion, the company ranks No. 4 among pipe, profile and tubing producers in North America, according to Plastics News’ latest ranking.

Terms of the DaVinci acquisition were not disclosed.
