Plaskolite wins 3M supplier award

North American plastic sheet leader Plaskolite LLC has received a 2020 Supplier of the Year Award from industrial giant 3M.

In a news release, officials with Plaskolite in Columbus, Ohio, said that the award was given in recognition of the firm’s contribution to improving 3M’s competitiveness. For 2020, St. Paul, Minn.-based 3M recognized 20 suppliers supporting the U.S. and Canada, among thousands in its global supply base, for world-class performance in providing products and services.

The suppliers were identified and rated based on actions taken to improve 3M’s competitiveness and overall supplier performance. A virtual awards ceremony was held Feb. 4.

Plaskolite CEO Ryan Schroeder said that his firm: “Is honored and grateful to receive this recognition from 3M, a company that shares our dedication to using innovation to solve the world’s problems.”

Schroeder added that when the COVID-19 pandemic hit, Plaskolite “met the massive global demand for virus safety shields and barriers while providing uninterrupted service to 3M.”

Debora Fronczak, 3M strategic sourcing vice president, said that her firm “is fortunate to work with great suppliers who are committed to fostering a relationship with 3M.”

“These collaborative relationships help us to serve our customers with innovative and valuable solutions,” she added. “It’s important that we recognize our most outstanding suppliers, and that’s what this award is all about.”

Based on sales, Plaskolite is North America’s 15th-largest film and sheet maker in Plastics News‘ 2020 ranking, with all of its sales from sheet. The firm has annual sales of $584 million.

3M is an industrial conglomerate selling a wide array of products including adhesives, tapes, and personal protective equipment (PPE) such as medical masks. The firm posted sales of just over $32 billion in 2020.
