Pa. natural gas production increases 2.8% in Q2

Natural gas production increased by 2.8% in Pennsylvania during the second quarter of this year, according to data released by the Pennsylvania Independent Fiscal Office.

The slight increase in production is the lowest growth rate in more than three years, according to Kallanish Energy.

Production in the state was 1,717 billion cubic feet in the quarter, which is down from 1,766 billion cubic feet in the first quarter of 2020.

Additionally, a total of 113 wells were spud in Pennsylvania in 2Q 2020, down 31.1% from the 153 wells spud in 1Q 2020. Pennsylvania has a total of 10,056 wells including 9,584 horizontal wells in the Marcellus Shale and other formations.
