Natural Gas NOW readers pass along a lot of stuff every week about natural gas, fractivist antics, emissions, renewables, and other news relating to energy. As usual, emphasis is added.
Delaware Povertykeeper Denied Again by Supreme Court
Williams beats the Delaware Povertykeeper yet again on the already operating Atlantic Sunrise project:
The US Supreme Court has denied a petition for certiorari filed by the Delaware Riverkeeper Network, which challenged a decision by the US Court of Appeals for the Third Circuit concerning Pennsylvania’s water quality certification for Transcontinental Gas Pipe Line Company LLC’s (Transco’s) Atlantic Sunrise Project. The project expands Transco’s interstate pipeline network in Pennsylvania and on the East Coast.
The Supreme Court’s April 29 denial comes as another success for the project, which has been defending against several challenges, first at the agency level and now at the appellate level, since Atlantic Sunrise first filed its FERC application to construct and operate the expansion facilities in March 2015.
How sweet it is to be a winner against this reprehensible organization which only exists to do the dirty work of gentry class special interests.
Well, This Was Inevitable, But It Should Have Come Sooner
Remember this post here at NaturalGasNOW? Well, here’s how it eventually played out:
A Pennsylvania state lawmaker protesting a natural gas liquids pipeline project in her neighborhood apologized Thursday for saying “Nazis were just doing their jobs too” and drawing a comparison to pipeline workers.
After condemnation grew during the week, Democratic Rep. Danielle Friel Otten, of Chester County, said on Twitter that her language had been insensitive.
“I sincerely apologize for my choice of words and to all who were hurt by my post,” Otten wrote.
Otten had maintained that she hadn’t compared Nazis to pipeline workers, and accused oil-and-gas industry media consultants of stirring up outrage.
Criticism had come from the state’s top Democratic lawmakers, the Anti-Defamation League’s Philadelphia-area chapter and the Jewish Federation of Greater Philadelphia. The state Republican Party called on Otten to resign.
It’s about damned time and let’s not forget she doubled down at first.
Methane Emissions Drop Inversely
To the Rise in Hyperbole by Fractivists
The more fractivists try to destroy natural gas by hyping methane emissions, the more those emissions drop
A new analysis by the New Mexico Oil & Gas Association shows a sharp drop in methane emission intensity in the Permian Basin during the last several years, despite a sharp increase in oil and gas production in the region.
The analysis showed a 57% drop in methane emission intensity since 2011, while oil and gas production has seen a 125% increase in that same time frame. Emissions intensity differs from emissions, in that it looks at the amount of methane emitted per barrel of oil. This study saw a drop from .008 metric ton CO2 equivalent per barrel of oil equivalent, to .003 MTCO2/Boe. Methane emissions overall have dropped 4.8 million metric tons CO2e to 4.6 million metric tons CO2e…
“This kind of flies in the face of what you often hear from some anti-oil-and-gas groups which say if we increase production, it increases methane emissions,” McEntyre said. “We’ve seen dramatic increases in production and we’re seeing dramatic declines in methane intensity.”
Yeah, you can’t really trust fractivists with facts. They don’t understand them, don’t want to do so and are always fighting yesterday’s battle over again in their minds as the industry moves ahead with technology to render their opposition irrelevant.
