European climate policy, from the Energiewende to EV mandates has been an unmitigated disaster as many of us predicted it would be from the very beginning.
I recently finishing reading the third volume of the C.S. Lewis “Space Trilogy.” It’s titled “That Hideous Strength” and is a science fiction story written after World War II about a mythical organization of elites operating in the UK under the moniker of National Institute for Coordinated Experiments (N.I.C.E.). The story is a dystopian novel telling of the everlasting battle of men (especially academics) against God and their attempt to replace the latter with themselves.
I say everlasting because there are real N.I.C.E. organizations today doing much the same thing. There’s this N.I.C.E., for instance, created by WHYY (yes, that WHYY, the one behind the odious propaganda outfit StateImpactPa). There is also the World Economic Forum that fits the Lewis N.I.C.E. template like a glove. It has been relentlessly pushing European climate policy for decades now as a route to fantastic power and riches. Now, it’s coming around to slam Europe in the face as its climate Tower of Babel begins to collapse.
Indeed, as IER has noted, European climate policy is leading to a “lights out” energy disaster wrought by the same sort of elites of which Lewis wrote. Towards the end of his story, in fact, he offers a proverb of sorts that also fits perfectly:
Yes, from Greta Thunberg to Klaus Schwab, elites have been calling for Nonsense in the form of European climate policy that trashes natural gas, nuclear and coal energy as yesterday’s technology, as they have championed grift-generating, power-enhancing green energy scams.
Now, the reality of the Nonsense for ordinary people is suddenly on their doorstep. It is yielding unaffordable electricity, cold showers, forcing of small farmers out of business, demands we all eat bugs rather than beef and myriad other things thought unthinkable a year ago. European climate policy has, seemingly overnight, morphed into ugly totalitarianism.
Moreover, we haven’t seen the worst of it yet because European climate policy is also American policy under the extreme leftist Biden Administration, which aspires to secure power forever. And, the Western elites are just drooling over China’s social credit system and want to use net-zero policies, ESG ratings and personal carbon counters as the vehicles to get there.
It’s all N.I.C.E.ly summed up in this must read article from Australia where governments of all parties seek to gain permanent control over the people. You can’t be gods, after all, unless you separate yourself from the little people and then cage them somewhere out of sight where they’ll slave away like Jacob’s progeny until Moses led out them of Egyp and the tyranny of the Paroahst.
Yes, Nonsense has been called for in the form of European climate policy and its now coming at all of us in the West; coming hard and fast, in fact. Free speech regarding the climate scam is all but prohibited in major social media, social credit schemes are already in the works and food shortages are likely to be next as a means implementing COVID-like control over all us forever.
What can be done about it? Well, simply what I’m doing here by speaking up. Resist political correctness in all its forms and, as they say, walk towards the fire. If Facebook, or Twitter or YouTube don’t want to hear you and attempt to still your voice, head elsewhere and keep talking even if it means hiding a mimeograph machine in the woods and resorting to old-fashioned Samizdat. Nonsense will keep coming if you don’t speak up.
