Cheniere Energy has announced that Train 2 at Corpus Christi, Texas, has reached substantial completion, Kallanish Energy reports.
That was reached last week at the liquefaction/export facility, the company said on Tuesday.
Commissioning is complete and Cheniere’s Epc partner Bechtel Oil, Gas and Chemicals Inc. has turned Train 2 over to Cheniere.
Texas-based Cheniere has Train 2 sale and purchase agreements with Electricite de France SA, Iberdrola SA, Naturgy Energy Group SA, PT Pertamina and Woodside Energy Trading Singapore Pte Ltd.
The first commercial delivery from Train 2 is expected to occur in May 2020, upon which the sales agreements will commence, the company said.
104 LNG cargoes
In second quarter 2019, the company shipped 104 liquefied natural gas cargoes from Sabine Pass in Louisiana and Corpus Christi in Texas to 32 countries.
That is up from 61 shipments in 2Q 2018. That is a 70% increase in cargoes.
Those 2Q shipments totaled 361 trillion Btus, up from 219 trillion Btus in 2Q 2018. That is a 65% increase.
As of July 31, 2019, more than 750 LNG shipments have been produced, loaded and exported from Cheniere facilities, the company said.
Train 3 in Texas
Train 3 at Corpus Christi in also under construction and 62.4% complete. It will reach substantial completion in 2H 2021. It is also developing additional smaller trains at Corpus Christi.
The company reported that Train 6 at Sabine Pass, now under construction, is 32.4% complete. It is expected to reach substantial completion in the first half of 2023.
There are five operating trains at Sabine Pass and one at Corpus Christi.
