The volume of working natural gas injected into storage in the Lower 48 U.S. states the week of May 3, slowed from the previous week’s triple-digit increase, but marked the sixth straight week of volume increases, the Energy Information Administration reported.
During the latest survey week, 85 billion cubic feet (Bcf) of working gas was placed in underground storage in the Lower 48, bringing the total volume of working gas in storage to 1.55 trillion cubic feet (Tcf), Kallanish Energy reports.

The latest total was up 128 Bcf, or 9.0%, from the year-ago total of 1.42 Tcf, but down 303 Bcf, or 16.4%, from the five-year average of 1.85 Tcf. (All numbers are rounded.)
All five regions EIA divides the Lower 48 U.S. states into when tracking stored working gas reported a week-to-week increase in product.
The South Central region gained the most working gas, 33 Bcf, bringing its total to 699 Bcf at May 3. The latest total was up 42 Bcf, or 6.4%, from the year-ago total of 657 Bcf, but was down 115 Bcf, or 14.1%, from the five-year average of 814 Bcf.
