The volume of working natural gas injected in the most recent weekly report by the Energy Information Administration was under 100 billion cubic feet for the second straight week, Kallanish Energy reports.
For the week ended June 28, 89 Bcf of working gas was injected underground, bringing total working gas stored to 2.39 trillion cubic feet, up from 2.30 Tcf one week earlier. (All numbers are rounded.)
It was the lowest volume of working natural gas injected since the week ended May 3, when just 85 Bcf was placed into storage.

The latest total was up 751 Bcf, or 11.6%, from the 2.14 Tcf in storage one year ago, but down 152 Bcf, or 6.0%, from the five-year average of 2.54 Tcf.
All five regions EIA divides the Lower 48 U.S. states into when tracking working gas reported a week-to-week increase in working gas stored.
The biggest week-to-week increase was in the Midwest region, where 30 Bcf was added to storage, bringing the region’s total to 568 Bcf, from 538 Bcf one week earlier.
The latest Midwest region total was up 117 Bcf, or 25.9%, from the year-ago total of 451 Bcf, but was down 15 Bcf, or 2.6%, from the five-year average of 583 Bcf.
The East region added 27 Bcf during the week ended June 28, bring the region’s total to 526 Bcf. The most recent East region total was up 70 Bcf, or 15.4%, from the year-ago total of 456 Bcf, but was down 10 Bcf, or 1.9%, from the five-year average of 536 Bcf, EIA reported.
