Next up: This story hearkens back to the early pandemic days when medical testing instruments were in desperate demand. SiO2 Materials Science rapidly expanded in 2020 with a large investment to produce materials to meet the demand. This year they filed for Chapter 11 protection and was purchased out of bankruptcy by Oaktree Capital.
Also: Ravago’s link with M. Holland will allow the company to maintain its brand and culture. Plus Nelson Miller Group has purchased Injection Works Inc.

- North American prices for PVC and polystyrene resins saw surprising increase in August.
- Private equity firm TLC LP of New York has agreed to buy 80 percent of DuPont’s Delrin acetal homopolymer business.
- Chevron Phillips Chemical Co. has placed force majeure supply limits on HDPE resin made at the firm’s plant in Orange, Texas.
- Dart Container Corp. is closing a Solo Cup factory that has been in operation for more than 50 years.
- Senior Reporter Jim Johnson and Reporter Bridget Janis covered the recent Baerlocher Recycling Conference, held in Cincinnati. They cover circularity, transportation, recyclable products, recycling programs and more.
- Xaloy Holdings LLC is investing in a research and development facility to expand production capacity and focus more on sustainability issues for injection molders and extruders.
- Saint-Gobain Performance Plastics is closing a plant in Merrimack, N.H., that has been blamed for contaminating residential water supplies with so-called “forever” fluorinated chemicals.
- A trade group wants federal environmental officials to reconsider proposed rule changes that would impact how waste plastics that undergo pyrolysis are regulated.
