This week’s issue is all about this year’s Executive Forum. We had a host of speakers and finally we’ll all hear from them in this issue.

Amcor Rigid Plastics President Eric Roegner has become known for his colorful promotion of the PET bottle and plastics and he didn’t disappoint during the Executive Forum when his message was on full display: “We’re under attack. We’ve been under attack. We have to stop playing defense. It’s time to start playing offense.”

- A US Senate subcommittee will host a series of six hearings with an aim to come up with some national strategies around plastics environmental and health challenges.
- A Michigan automotive supplier is facing insolvency after failing to make loan payments and dealing with allegations of improperly reporting finances. This is all in addition to investigations for alleged labor rights violations at a Mexico manufacturing plant.

- Michigan mold maker has cut 85 jobs amid a shift to focus on automation.
- Injection molder Engineered Plastic Components Inc. has acquired the assets of another injection molder, Ernie Green Industries, including plants in Ohio, Florida and Ontario.
- Pushed by the effects of COVID-19 and employees’ struggles with finding child care, some plastics processing companies are stepping into what is a new area for them: direct help with providing or finding day care.
- Formerra LLC has made a deal to acquire Irish materials supplier Total Polymer Solutions for an undisclosed price.
