Vishal Goradia named Vinmar CEO

Vishal Goradia was promoted to CEO of Vinmar International Ltd. on Jan. 1.

Houston-based Vinmar is a major international distributor of plastic resins and specialty chemicals. Goradia takes over this role from his father, Hemant Goradia, who now will focus on other Goradia family investments and continue to serve on the firm’s board of directors, officials said in a Jan. 7 news release.

Vishal Goradia joined the family company in 2009, most recently serving as senior vice president of its plastics division. Vinmar was founded in 1978 by his uncle, Vijay Goradia, who now serves as the firm’s chairman.

“It is a singular privilege to work closely with my father and uncle and I look forward to continuing to do so in my new role,” Vishal Goradia said in the release. “I am grateful for the honor of leading our incredible team through Vinmar’s next phase.”

Hemant Goradia added that the transition “will assure continuity, dynamism, energy and creativity for the company’s continued growth, both organically as well as through strategic acquisitions, and is the culmination of the company’s succession plan.”

“Vishal and our exceptional team will continue to build on the strong foundation laid by our chairman and founder Vijay Goradia,” he said.

Vinmar made several other management changes effective Jan. 1. Devang Mehta is president of the firm’s Chemicals division, continuing to report to the CEO.

Vinmar’s plastics division will be reorganized and led by a newly formed plastics executive leadership team reporting to the CEO. That team includes Guillermo Ruiz, global vice president of sourcing, responsible for managing the global relationships with Vinmar’s key suppliers as well as new technology initiatives.

Other Plastics team members are Kartik Mehta, global vice president of plastics, and Ricardo Levy, global vice president of plastics distribution.

Officials said these changes will allow Vinmar to continue executing on its long-term growth strategy while delivering on its commitments to its partners and customers.

Vinmar is a global plastics and chemicals distributor that posted sales of $3.6 billion in 2019. The firm has over 50 offices in more than 35 countries with sales in more than 110 countries.
