French robot maker Sepro Group and collaborative robot builder Universal Robots have signed an agreement in the areas of cobots and industrial automation.

Under terms of the partnership, announced May 8, Sepro will integrate its Visual control system with cobots supplied by Universal Robots. Collaborative robots can work side-by-side with human workers.

Sepro developed the Visual control platform specifically for robots used in injection molding machines. All Sepro robots, including co-branded lines, are controlled by Visual, giving the same user interface regardless of the type of robot, including beam robots, six-axis articulating arm robots, and now cobots.

By adding the Visual control to the Universal Robot cobot, Sepro is providing seamless integration of the UR technology with other Sepro robots and the molding machine.

Sepro will display the UR technology during K 2019 in the Sepro exhibit in Hall 12, stand A49, during the show in Düsseldorf, Germany, Oct. 16-23.

Sepro Group CEO Jean-Michel Renaudeau said the partnership will expand Sepro’s portfolio.

“Moreover, I believe that the combination of Sepro Group knowhow the groundbreaking collaborative technologies developed by Universal Robots will allow our customers even greater flexibility and choice in how they approach automation in the plastic injection process,” he said.

Sepro is based in La Roche-sur-Yon, France.

Universal Robots, based in Odense, Denmark, is part of Teradyne Inc. of North Reading, Mass.

“Together, the two companies will be able to provide efficient, safe and easy to use solutions for a wide range of customers within the plastic injection industry,” said Jürgen von Hollen, president of Universal Robots.
