Rotational molder Horizon Manufacturing Group LLC has purchased a 26-acre site across the street from its factory in Lake Mills, Wis., for a new warehouse.
General Manager Keith Krausse said construction should begin in late August. Horizon could be operating there by the end of January 2020, he added.
“We’re building 31,000 square feet, with the ability to expand up to 180,000 square feet,” he said.
The Krausse family-owned rotomolding company started in 2012 with two used machines in a small building. After a series of four additions, Horizon’s plant now measures 55,000 square feet, and the company employs 75.
The company, which also makes fabricated sheet metal molds, recently bought its ninth rotomolder, a Ferry machine. Krausse said Horizon also runs Rotoline machines.
The warehouse across the street will open up more manufacturing space at the factory. Krausse said the company is looking at buying some additional equipment, but officials are not sure of the timing.
“What we’re doing is, we’re taking out all the warehousing and turning our facility into all manufacturing,” he said. The new building will handle warehousing and shipping.
The warehouse building also could hold future manufacturing, Krausse said.
Krausse said Horizon has grown by taking on challenging molding work. “Our main focus is to help on products or projects that other companies can’t or won’t do, and that’s really seemed to help us out,” he said.
“We’ve been inundated with tool transfers as other manufacturers consolidate or reevaluate their business focus. We’ve ended up getting a lot of tool transfers,” Krausse said.
Horizon’s end markets include agriculture, construction, consumer goods, food and waste, health care, manufacturing, recreational and transportation.
