Erie, Pa. — Beaumont Family of Cos. will serve as the North American technology demonstration and trial center for Roctool SA, the French maker of induction systems that can rapidly heat and cool molds.
The partnership will allow customers to evaluate and learn more about Roctool’s technology, according to Beaumont Vice President Alex Beaumont.
“Our mission at Beaumont is to improve our industry as a whole and to do this we need to continue to align ourselves with companies pushing the envelope. We see Roctool as one of those companies and we look forward to seeing what we can do together,” Beaumont said in a news release.
Roctool’s induction process allows molds to quickly reach higher mold temperatures compared to conventional molding, which in turn improves surface quality, material flow, and overall part quality, the release says.
The technology also can reduce or eliminate common part defects including sink marks, flow lines, and weld lines, according to the release.
Roctool CEO Mathieu Boulanger described Beaumont as a key player in the injection molding market and called the partnership “critical” for Roctool.
“With this combined effort, we can now offer a top-notch molding environment to both our current and new customers, including demonstration, trial capabilities, and additional engineering services,” Boulanger said in the release.
Founded in 1998, the privately held Beaumont specializes in runner design, material characterization, moldflow simulation analysis, engineering, training, consulting and cleanroom molding. The family of companies includes Beaumont Technologies, Beaumont Advanced Processing, Beaumont Development, and the American Injection Molding Institute.
With the partnership, Beaumont and Roctool also will collaborate on projects, including one to provide what they say will be the quickest but most accurate simulation results possible. The project will use Beaumont’s in-house material characterization resources to feed the simulation of Roctool systems.
The two companies’ process development teams will use the simulation results to deliver fully optimized production systems for nearly any application, the release says.
The demonstration center also has a fleet of molds available for material characterization and immediate trial needs.
In the future, the site will host industry-focused open houses to help companies further evaluate Roctool ans Beaumont technologies.
