Primex Design and Fabrication, a subsidiary of Richmond, Ind.-based sheet extruder Primex Plasics Corp., is investing a total of $1.3 million in a new digital printer project including training for staff to expand its product line.
Primex will use the new equipment “to enhance products we were previously manufacturing such as point of purchase displays, retail and food distribution packaging, signage, shipping containers and sleeve packs,” Doug Borgsdorf, business director for Primex said in an email to Plastics News. “All of this is based upon our sustainable, returnable packaging solutions.”
“The ability to digitally print our products is going to greatly enhance our customers’ ability to brand while keeping their valuable parts protected,” Borgsdorf added.
The company expects the project will create six new full-time jobs.
“We have a group of employees that embrace technology,” Borgsdorf said in a July 12 news release by the Economic Development Corp. of Wayne County, Indiana.
The company will receive a $20,000 Economic Development Income Tax Grant from EDC that they can use towards the purchase of new equipment or to provide training for new and incumbent employees.
“These EDIT funds will go directly to the training and development of our great team to ensure a sustainable future for our community,” Borgsdorf said in the release.
