The Bureau of Investigation & Enforcement, a division of the Pennsylvania Public Utility Commission, is continuing to investigate a pipeline explosion that occurred in Clarion County on May 28, according to the Farm and Dairy.
The explosion damaged a home and a greenhouse along Pipe Run Road in Mayport and sent one person to the hospital.
In their preliminary investigation, pipeline safety engineers have identified three pipelines near the site — two natural gas transmission lines operated by TC Energy (formerly TransCanada) and a natural gas line that supplies the house and greenhouse, which is operated by Empire Energy. The Empire Energy line and one of the TC Energy lines have been placed out of service.
The pipeline safety engineers are working to determine whether natural gas service was involved in the incident and whether there were any violations of state or federal pipeline safety regulations.
