Ohio joined more than a dozen states who’ve enacted legislation that prevents local governments from banning the use of natural gas or propane on July 1 as Gov. Mike DeWine signed House Bill 201 into law, according to Farm and Dairy.
The effort is in response to the recent trend of large cities banning natural gas hookups in new buildings to help fight air pollution and reduce the effects of climate change.
There are no cities in Ohio with a ban on the use of natural gas or propane and there is no indication and cities or townships were considering a ban. However, legislatures felt the legislation was necessary to address the issue before it became an issue.
