The North Dakota Public Service Commission this week approved a siting permit for a $125 million, 77-mile natural gas liquids pipeline in northwest North Dakota, Kallanish Energy learns.
Oneok Bakken Pipeline LLC received a permit to construct a pipeline starting at the Demicks Lake natural gas processing plant in McKenzie County, North Dakota, extending southwest to Richland County, Montana, to interconnect with another pipeline.
“This is vital new infrastructure to help reduce flaring by capturing, processing and safely transporting the vast and valuable energy products being produced in the Bakken,” said Commissioner Julie Fedorchak, the Bismarck Tribune newspaper reported.
The line will flow up to 40,000 barrels per day of natural gas liquids. The project will connect with Oneok’s Elk Creek Pipeline, a 900-mile pipeline under construction to transport Ngl from Sidney, Montana, to Bushton, Kansas.
Fedorchak told the Tribune the project attempts to minimize impacts to landowners and the environment by co-locating the pipeline in an existing pipeline corridor for 51 of the 77 miles.
