Mytex investing $7M to add capacity, workforce in Georgia

Mytex Polymers U.S. Corp is investing more than $7 million to increase capacity in Georgia in a move that will create 15 new jobs.

Mytex will add a production line at its 140,000-square-foot location in Covington, near Atlanta, officials said in a May 26 news release. They added that the line is needed because of increased demand for long glass fiber polypropylene compounds.

Mytex, a unit of Mitsubishi Chemical Corp. of Tokyo, makes compounds based on PP and engineering resins for auto parts, household appliances, recreational vehicles, industrial equipment, specialty packaging and other applications.

“The area has a talented workforce, and we look forward to having individuals join our team,” Mytex President Yasuhiro Mochizuki said in the release. “We appreciate the support of the local municipalities and look forward to continuing a successful partnership over the coming years.”

Kristin Miller, senior project manager with the Georgia Department of Economic Development, added that “Georgia’s top-ranked workforce will serve Mytex as they expand.”
