Mountain Valley pipeline ‘unlikely’ to be completed in 2019

Ongoing legal and regulatory challenges that have continuously delayed the construction of the Mountain Valley natural gas pipeline now threaten to push its completion date past 2019, according to EQM Midstream Partners LP.

When the company started construction in February 2018, it estimated the project would cost about $3.5 billion and be completed by the end of 2018. However, the $4.6 billion pipeline has exceeded both estimates.

Despite the setbacks, the company has completed about 80- percent of the Mountain Valley Pipeline and remains confident it will complete the project.
