Joe Manchin Faking It to Recover from A Disastrous Sellout

[Editor’s Note: Joe Manchin is no “conservative Democrat” as there is no such species and he proved it when he signed onto the dirty, rotten, stinking Inflation Reduction Act.]

Make no mistake–the United States is in trouble because of the vote of West Virginia U.S. Senator Joe Manchin to pass Joe Biden’s Green New Deal bill renamed (misnamed) to the Inflation Reduction Act (see Tragedy: Joe Manchin Caves & Agrees to Big Green Build Back Better).

Joe Manchin deserves to be hounded out of office for his betrayal of the country and the betrayal of West Virginia voters. His poll numbers show he would lose to just about anyone if the election were held today (see WV Sen. Joe Manchin 3rd Most Unpopular U.S. Senator in the Country). Manchin has recently done a 180-degree turnaround, trying to distance himself from the very bill that HE negotiated and passed–claiming (falsely) that Biden is not implementing it the way he (Manchin) negotiated.

Joe Manchin

Third Way? Or, on the way out, for selling out?

Manchin claims the Bidenistas are coloring outside the lines of the IRA as passed, which is nonsense. He knew this would happen, yet he now (falsely) claims he (Manchin) is the one betrayed by the radical left. Give us a break! It’s time for Joe (Manchin, and Biden) to go. It’s time to finally boot both of their sorry old rear-ends from office in 2024.

No, Joe Manchin. You don’t get a pass for your betrayal of the country. You must go. The damage you have done is far too significant ever to be forgiven, no matter what you do now in a pathetic attempt to atone.

Manchin’s strategy is to block Biden appointees, claiming they are too radical. Again, Manchin is disingenuous. Manchin signed on to Biden’s radical agenda, and now Manchin must pay the political price.

We have several mainstream stories, some of which call Manchin a “conservative” Democrat, to share with you. Don’t fall for the lie. The media is trying to prop up Manchin to get him reelected. Do they think we don’t notice their pathetic, transparent lies?

First up is an article from the Communists at POLITICO, who claim Manchin is joining Republicans to “seek a bipartisan energy deal and thwart Joe Biden’s regulatory agenda.” Manchin even says he may not stay a Democrat. LOL! Sorry Joe, you’re history.

Joe Manchin is joining with Republicans to seek a bipartisan energy deal and thwart Joe Biden’s regulatory agenda, while criticizing three of the president’s nominees in a single week.

So you might forgive the GOP for, after previously betting that Manchin was headed for retirement, now thinking he might run for reelection after all.

“He’s running for something. I don’t know what it is,” said Sen. Tommy Tuberville (R-Ala.), who is working on legislation with the centrist Democrat about college athlete compensation. “He’s going to have a tough race. I think West Virginia’s redder than we are in Alabama. So he’s going to put his best foot forward for a year and a half. We gotta think he’s going to run.”

Manchin says he’s not deciding on anything until the end of the year and is also pointedly refusing to rule out a presidential run on a third-party ticket. That gives him roughly nine more months to keep Washington guessing. In the meantime, he’ll keep exerting his political leverage, at least until he runs and Republicans start to limit his opportunities or a retirement announcement saps his Senate sway.

And the West Virginian is well aware of the limited window to maximize his current role as the GOP’s best bipartisan dealmaking partner and the Senate Energy Committee chair. On Friday morning he conveyed that his committee will not move forward with Interior nominee Laura Daniel-Davis. That came on the heels of opposition this week to Biden’s proposed IRS commissioner and a decisive blow to the nomination of an FCC commissioner.

“If you can’t do the job the last two years because you’re in cycle, that tells you what’s wrong with this place. That’s why I haven’t made any commitment or a decision,” Manchin said in an interview this week.

Manchin summed up his pugnacious approach to Biden nominees on Friday morning, declaring that “going forward, each and every proposed nominee I will review will be judged through one prism: Are they political partisans first or Americans first?” in a Houston Chronicle op-ed.

It seems not a day goes by without Manchin tweaking the Biden administration over something. He thrashed the president’s team Wednesday for “putting their radical climate agenda ahead of our nation’s energy security” then on Thursday said White House advisor John Podesta was “irresponsible” in comments about Chinese energy production.

In his typical style, Manchin says none of those moves have anything to do with his reelection decision…

Here’s the AP trying to help Manchin:

In a sign of a deepening rift among Democrats on energy issues, conservative Democratic Sen. Joe Manchin says he will not move forward on President Joe Biden’s nominee to oversee oil and gas leasing at the Interior Department.

Manchin, of West Virginia, chairs the Senate Energy and Natural Resources Committee and has great influence on energy and environmental issues in the closely divided Senate. In an op-ed Friday, he cited a memo signed by nominee Laura Daniel-Davis that proposed charging oil companies higher rates for drilling off the Alaska coast.

Manchin said the higher rates backed by Daniel-Davis for the proposed drilling project in Alaska’s Cook Inlet “were explicitly designed to decrease fossil energy production at the expense of our energy security.”

Even though he had supported Daniel-Davis in the past, “I cannot, in good conscience, support her or anyone else who will play partisan politics and agree with this misguided and dangerous manipulation of the law,” Manchin wrote in the Houston Chronicle.

The dispute over Daniel-Davis’s nomination comes as the Biden administration nears a decision on a major oil project in Alaska that many environmental groups say would be a blight on Biden’s climate legacy. Bloomberg News reported Friday, based on anonymous sources, that the administration will authorize the Willow project.

Climate activists are outraged that Biden appears open to the huge project on Alaska’s North Slope, which they call a “carbon bomb” that would break his campaign pledge to curtail oil drilling on public lands and waters.

Approval of the project would risk alienating young voters who have urged stronger climate action by the White House as Biden approaches a 2024 reelection campaign…

Finally, the leftist robots at Bloomberg (perhaps ChatGPT?) provided this cover for Manchin:

Senator Joe Manchin is threatening to hold up more of President Joe Biden’s nominees, escalating a clash with the White House over its implementation of energy provisions in Democrats’ signature climate law.

“The Biden administration must begin to implement the IRA that was passed, not the law they wanted but did not get,” Manchin wrote in an opinion piece published in the Houston Chronicle Friday. “Let me be clear: If they choose to continue down this path there will be consequences now and in the future.”

Manchin used the piece and a separate appearance Friday at the CERAWeek by S&P Global energy conference to air grievances with the Biden administration, accusing them of ignoring federal mandates in the Inflation Reduction Act and other laws. Manchin, a conservative Democrat, represents a crucial vote needed to confirm Biden’s nominations in the Senate, which Democrats narrowly control by an effective 51-49 majority.

The administration, Manchin wrote, has “chosen to illogically advance a partisan climate agenda and appease radical activists.”

In particular, Manchin has criticized Treasury Secretary Janet Yellen and other administration officials he says are not abiding by electric vehicle tax credit restrictions he put in place to ensure the incentive doesn’t subsidize foreign adversaries…

Editor’s Note: Jim is 100% correct about Joe Manchin, who we naively thought was somewhat of a friend not so long ago, but has turned out to be just another corrupt politician intent on reaping the spoils of victory by leveraging his positions as a phony “conservative Democrat,” a species of which there is zero evidence of surviving extinction during the Obama years. Anyone claiming to be one is but faking it for the benefits and those are clear in Joe Manchin’s case.

joe man chin's wife gayleI say this because Joe Manchin sold out early to Joe Biden when the latter appointed the former’s wife, Gayle Manchin (right), as the $163,000 year Federal Co-Chair of the Appalachian Regional Commission, which passes out big bucks, borrowed from Communist China and other enemies who buy our debt, as political favors across 13 states. This was a plum assignment to create obligations on Joe Manchin to support Biden when it came to some really important piece of legislation for our nation-killer’s destruction agenda and the ludicrously named Inflation Reduction Act turned out to be it. Joe Manchin was compromised very early.

If Joe Manchin really cared about America and West Virginia, he would turn Republican and call out Biden in a meaningful way. But, the leftist media doesn’t want that, of course. Rather, it wants to reinforce the narrative of “conservative Joe Manchin,” which requires them to lie by omission, as they always do, and not say a word about Gayle Manchin. That’s the sort of corrupt corporatist world in which we now reside.
