PTTGC’s Final Investment Decision (FID) to proceed with the building of a cracker plant in Belmont County Ohio will be coming in the next few months. Some say as early July and others not until September. Whatever the ultimate date, the smart money is starting to move now. Ohio River properties are generating considerable interests. A lot of people are “kicking the tires.”
The Ohio River Valley has major projects moving forward that support these moves. The Shell cracker plant is projected to start producing ethylene in the third or fourth quarter of 2020. Marathon’s MPLX has announced that it’s building an underground storage facility in Hopedale in Cadiz County, Ohio and Mountaineer Storage could start to build out its underground storage facility in Clarington, OH.
These four major projects plus a number of smaller ones will put a premium on properties on the Ohio River. That’s why the smart money is moving now.
