Davis-Standard LLC Davis-Standard opened its first manufacturing plant in China in 2012.

Davis-Standard LLC, the Pawcatuck, Conn.-based maker of extrusion, converting and thermoforming equipment, is growing in China.

The company’s Chinese subsidiary Davis-Standard (Suzhou) Plastics Packaging Machinery Co. Ltd. opened a second location near its main manufacturing facility in Suzhou, a suburb of Shanghai, at the end of April.

The new 35,000-square-foot facility houses control panel assembly and additional warehousing for its extrusion coating business.

Jinsong Lin, general manager for the subsidiary, said the additional space will allow the company to manufacture more extrusion coating lines at the main facility, a 46,300-square-foot building that also houses the company’s research and development efforts.

The second location will also help support other machine services and allow for faster delivery, he said.

“The increased manufacturing capacity is a positive reflection of our growth over the past few years,” Lin said in a statement. “We have become one of the top equipment suppliers in the region, and we don’t take that for granted.”

Davis-Standard opened its first facility in China in 2012. The subsidiary manufactures equipment for medical tubing, extrusion coating and co-extruding applications. It also assembles electrical control panels, extruders and gearcases.
