Agri-Plastics Custom Rotomolding has expanded its manufacturing department to deal with growing demand for custom orders.
The company added a new Maag ultra pulverizer and a high-intensity Optimax mixer in its Sidney, Neb., plant.
“We needed more capacity. We have more business coming online, more custom molding jobs are coming up,” President and CEO Darren VanBuuren said.
The company ranks No. 19 in Plastics News‘ recent survey of North American rotational molders, with $27 million in annual sales.
The pulverizer, the third in Sidney, has capacity of 3,200 pounds per hour, giving the plant a total capacity of 5,600 pounds per hour of pulverized resin.
Agri-Plastics buys resin by the railcar in pellet form and pulverizes it in-house to control cost and powder quality, VanBuuren said.
The Optimax color mixer is the Sidney plant’s third, and it gives the company capacity to produce up to 500 pounds of colored resin every three minutes.
The company has two plants. Its Grassie, Ontario, factory has 100,000 square feet of production and warehouse space and eight rotomolding machines. The Nebraska plant, which opened in 2018, has 165,000 square feet of space and nine rotomolders.
