Conservation groups recently filed a notice of intent to sue President Donald Trump over the executive order he made on June 4, which directed federal agencies to fast-track pipelines, oil and gas drilling and other infrastructure projects, according to Kallanish Energy.
The Center for Biological Diversity filed the notice of the potential lawsuit, which will make the first time Trump has been sued for violating the federal Endangered Species Act. Under federal law, such notice must be filed 60 days in advance of the actual lawsuit.
Trump’s order gave federal agencies emergency powers to fast-track major energy and other infrastructure projects by overriding regulatory requirements of the Endangered Species Act and the National Environmental Policy Act.
