Chase Plastic Services Inc. has made the holidays a little brighter with its fourth annual Giving Card campaign.
This year’s campaign wrapped up on Dec. 20, with Chase — a resin distributor based in Clarkston, Mich. — donating a total of $7,500 to three charities that had been nominated by the firm’s customers.
In previous years, the company donated $1,000 to three charities, but officials said in a news release that because of the overwhelming response and the compelling stories of giving, three deserving charities were selected to receive donations of $2,500 each this year.
This year’s charities recognized by Chase were:
• Hero Dogs Inc., which places service dogs with veterans and first-responders in the greater Washington, D.C., area to improve their quality of life, free of charge. The group also places skilled home companion dogs with veteran and first-responder families, and facility dogs with qualified clinicians.
• Because There Is Hope, which furnishes a home away from home for those coming to Spokane, Wash. and the northern Washington area; Idaho, and Montana for cancer treatment. The organization provides free lodging to the patient and caregiver.
• Toms River Field of Dreams, a project to build a park and playground in the Township of Toms River, N.J., that will benefit children and adults with special needs, giving them a place where they can feel normal. The project will be built to include a baseball field, playground, miniature golf course, and picnic area and address the physical and social inclusion needs of people of all ages and abilities.
This year, Chase used the Giving Card as its holiday card and collected nominations through its website in November and December, resulting in a total of 100 nominations from customers, suppliers and the general public. Company officials said that to raise awareness, donations and volunteerism efforts for “those who give all year,” Chase highlighted a different charity on their social media channels every day of the campaign, including weekends and holidays.
“The outpouring of generosity and the incredible acts of kindness never ceases to amaze us,” President Kevin Chase said. “I am beyond grateful to be part of an industry that continues to create an impact year after year, and I look forward to working together with them to make a difference in 2020.”
Chase offers more than 20,000 grades of specialty, engineering and commodity thermoplastics. Kevin Chase and his wife Carole, who serves as the firm’s vice president, founded the company in 1992.
