Liquefied natural gas export terminal Cameron LNG is preparing to load its first export shipment of LNG following the arrival of the first LNG tanker at its Louisiana facility, the Houston Chronicle newspaper reported.
The Singapore-flagged LNG tanker Marvel Crane arrived in the Calcasieu Ship Channel early Tuesday morning where it later docked at the export terminal, located near Hackberry, Louisiana, Kallanish Energy reports.
Developed by San Diego utility company Sempra Energy and a quarter of foreign partners, including Total, Mitsui, Mitsubishi and Nippon Yusen Kabushiki Kaisha (Nyk), construction crews began the final stages of commissioning Cameron LNG’s first production unit, or train, in April.
Two more production trains remain under construction. Once all three are in operation, Cameron LNG will be able to produce nearly 12 million metric tonnes of LNG annually. Those production figures translate roughly to about 1.7 billion cubic feet per day of natural gas.
Marvel Crane is owned by the Japanese shipping company and Cameron partner NYK Line.
