Minnetonka, Minn. — Evolve Additive Solutions Inc. is expanding its materials technology center in Brighton, N.Y., in a project that will create up to 60 jobs.
The Minnetonka-based company is developing proprietary additive manufacturing technology, and it is backed by big-name brands including Lego A/S and Stanley Black & Decker Inc.
The company announced March 27 that it will receive tax credits of up to $1 million from the Finger Lakes Regional Economic Development Council for the $1.2 million project. Monroe County and Greater Rochester Enterprise also are assisting with the project.
The company’s Brighton office currently employs 15 and is headed by Kodak veteran Rich Allen. The expansion will initially add 7,000 square feet of space, with plans to eventually add 13,000 more.
Evolve’s additive manufacturing technology is known as selective thermoplastic electrophotographic process (Step). According to the company, advantages of the technology include the ability to use engineering-grade thermoplastics that are amorphous and semi-crystalline; surface quality with isotropic properties in X, Y and Z directions that are on par with injection molding; and multiple material and full-color printing capabilities.
