One of our biggest stories from last week comes from Catherine Kavanaugh as the Plastics Pollution Coalition has launched a new effort to urge federal and local officials not to replace lead service lines with plastic pipes. Trade groups are pushing back against the campaign as plastic pipes meet industry standards and say plastic will be cheaper.
K 2022 attendance slipped this year, but still exceeded expectations as the world recovers from a global pandemic.
California had a message for plastic bag makers in the state: Prove recyclability on their product labels. This news comes at the same time a Greenpeace report found that plastics recycling measures are failing on a broad scale. Also on sustainability matters, the Ellen MacArthur Foundation’s Global Commitment 2022 Progress Report found that key 2025 targets are likely to be missed.
Elsewhere in the issue there were a couple of significant mergers and acquisitions news, particularly Sealed Air’s purchase of Liqui-Box to expand the company’s packaging offerings.
