Cabot donation to Parkway West Career & Technology Center will help prepare students to enter the workforce after graduation.
On April 29 Cabot Oil & Gas visited Parkway West Career & Technology Center to present them with a $35,000 check. The funds are part of the Educational Improvement Tax Credit (EITC) program and goes toward scholarships and capital equipment for the school.
Cabot began working with Parkway West CTC in 2019 to provide them with scholarship funds for students. Of the $35,000 contributed during the current school year, $25,000 went towards scholarships. This year, Cabot also provided an additional $10,000 to the school which will go towards the purchase of uniforms, certifications, membership fees, and equipment. Parkway West CTC chose to put these funds towards their Graphic Arts & Production Technology Program for a state-of-the-art laser engraver.
“This generous donation has resulted in improved classroom equipment, which will ultimately help our students to be more equipped and prepared to enter into the workforce following graduation,” said Natasha Edrington, Workforce Development Coordinator at Parkway West CTC.
We were excited to meet with the school and present them with their check. State Senator Devlin Robinson was also a guest and spent time getting to know more about Parkway West. He went on to say, “I’m a big proponent of trade schools and trade careers. I think that teaching kids that there are other options than college and a lifetime of debt is a good thing. They can be trained here and come out and get a good-paying job.”
Cabot focuses our EITC efforts on career and technology centers because they develop qualified workers ready for the workforce. We currently support 26 career and technology centers across the state.
Supporting career and technology centers through the EITC program is a vital part of Cabot’s commitment to building strong communities. We’ve utilized the program for almost 10 years and in 2019 alone, we contributed more than $1,000,000 towards educational programs and equipment and funded almost 300 scholarships throughout various private and CTC schools across Pennsylvania.
