New name for purge supplier Sun Plastech

Purging compound supplier Sun Plastech Inc. is changing its name to Asahi Kasei Asaclean Americas on Aug. 1.

Parsippany, N.J.-based SPI joined Asahi Kasei Group of Tokyo nearly 25 years ago. It was one of Asahi Kasei’s original American entities. SPI makes and distributes Asaclean-brand purging compounds.

In a news release, officials said that the new name reflects the close relationship to its parent company. “This is an exciting new chapter in our history,” Vice President Phani Nagaraj said. “We are incredibly proud to be a part of the Asahi Kasei family, and this change brings us to closer to the values and ideals that make us the Best Place to Work in the plastics industry.”

“We believe our new brand will emphasize our technical expertise and our global focus on product development and R&D which Asahi Kasei is so well known for,” he added. “Asahi Kasei Asaclean Americas will continue to focus on providing ultimate value for our customers.”

Officials said that the name change and rebranding won’t have any impact on Asaclean products. “Our production, development, customer support, and distribution have not changed in any way,” Nagaraj added.

The Asaclean product line features mechanical and chemical grades that are scientifically engineered for optimal performance based on process and resins. The materials are optimized for injection molding, extrusion, profile and sheet, blow molding, and blown film applications.

SPI ranked No. 1 on Plastics News Best Places to Work list for 2020. The 27-employee firm has been ranked on that list for six straight years. Nagaraj said earlier this year that SPI believes in “hiring the right people and focusing heavily on fostering an environment where employees are empowered to make the right decisions.”

Asahi Kasei was founded in 1922 and employs more than 40,000 worldwide in them material, homes and health care industries.
