PVC pipe makers Sanderson Pipe Corp., based in Clarksville, Tenn., and Texas United Pipe Inc., of Houston will merge by the end of year after operating separately under common ownership since May 1.
The pending deal between the regional manufacturers calls for Texas United Pipe to become a wholly owned subsidiary of Sanderson Pipe, which continues to expand its footprint and presence in the PVC pipe market.
In May 2018, Sanderson merged with Vinylplex Inc., which manufactures pipe mainly for water utilities in the Midwest.
With $110 million in annual sales, Sanderson holds the No. 42 spot among North American extruders, according to Plastics News‘ latest ranking. Texas United Pipe is No. 79 based on $35 million in sales.
Plumbing, irrigation and waterworks products manufactured by the combined companies will be marketed as Sanderson Pipe.
“Texas United Pipe has a strong history and well established presence in the Texas, Oklahoma and Louisiana plumbing and irrigation markets,” Eric Howard, president of both Sanderson Pipe and Texas United Pipe, said in news release. “We are very excited to announce the combination with Texas United Pipe.”
The release said the new subsidiary was founded in1990 and manufactures a range of PVC pipe in half-inch through 8-inch diameters. However, the Texas United Pipe website says the business has been in continuous operation since 1971 and produces pipe up to 18 inches in diameter.
Founded in 1998, Sanderson supplies PVC pipe from a half-inch to 18-inch diameters to the plumbing, irrigation, municipal and wastewater markets in the Southeast and Midwest from production facilities in Clarksville; Pittsburg, Kan., and Sanderson, Fla., according to the release.
“We are well positioned to grow the business by focusing on the basics of producing quality product, being easy to do business with, and delivering orders on time,” Howard said.
