Pretium investing $2M for equipment, infrastructure in Alabama

Pretium Packaging LLC is spending $2 million on equipment and infrastructure upgrades at a manufacturing site in Alabama.

New reheat stretch blow molding equipment for PET is able to produce both hot-fill and cold-fill containers ranging in size from 6 ounces to 2 liters. Neck finishes range from 24 to 45 millimeters.

Growing demand in the condiment, sauce and dressing market is driving the need for the new equipment. The company also cited “increased supply requirements from the beverage category” as a reason to make the investment.

“Pretium has made this investment to expand our reheat stretch blow molding production footprint. Demand from small- to medium-sized companies for condiment containers, as well as hot-fill bottles continues to increase,” Operations Director Randy Neibarger said in a statement.

The reheat stretch blow molding capability is new for the facility, and the first for the company in the Southeast. The Troy, Ala., location already had 10 extrusion blow molding machines in place. Pretium said the company has reheat stretch blow molding capabilities in four other regions of the United States.

Reheat stretch blow molding uses preforms to create containers.
