Consolidated Container Co. Consolidated Container Co.’s Altium Packaging Canada is a blow molder of bottles for dairy and other consumer products.
Major blow molder Consolidated Container Co. is expanding through acquisition in Canada through its Altium Packaging Canada business.
Altium Packaging Canada announced March 26 that it has acquired Plastique Micron Inc. and its affiliates, IMBC Blowmolding (2014) Inc. and Les Produits de Plastique Action.
Terms of the deal were not disclosed. Altium was formerly known as Reid Canada Inc.
In an email to Plastics News, CCC President and CEO Sean Fallmann called the acquisitions “an important part of our growth and capital allocation strategy.”
“The acquisition of Plastique Micron is an important addition to our growth plans in the health and wellness segments,” he said. “We believe CCC and Altium Packaging can continue to drive growth in these segments and across the Canadian market.”
With Sainte-Claire, Quebec-based Plastique Micron, CCC gets one of the largest container blow molders in eastern Canada. The company has one plant in Quebec and two in Ontario.
Plastics News estimated Plastique Micron’s 2017 blow molding sales at $38 million. Plastique Micron employs more than 200 people and serves domestic and multinational food, industrial chemical and cosmetics customers.
Plastique Micron was founded in 1970. Quebec government financing agency Investissement Québec bought a majority stake in the company in 2017.
CCC already has a significant footprint in Canada. When the company’s Canadian operations were rebranded in January, Altium became the umbrella for all the company’s Canadian facilities and brands: Semopac, Deltapac, Humberline Packaging and Polybottle.
Based in Atlanta, CCC is the sixth largest blow molder in North America, according to Plastics News, with sales estimated at $915 million.
The three Plastique Micron sites will be integrated into Altium, according to CCC. Plastique Micron CEO Bernard Poitras said the acquisition “comes at the perfect time and will result in a new phase of expansion for Plastique Micron.”
Including Plastique Micron, CCC now has 62 rigid plastic packaging factories, two recycling plants and about 2,800 employees.
